R+W's backlash-free disc couplings are constructed entirely of steel. The element that determines the properties of the coupling is a plate coupling (disk) made of several layers of high-strength spring steel. The layered design provides high torsional rigidity and flexibility to compensate for misalignment of the shafts to be coupled.
